Our History

Take a look back at Great Plains Auto Body

We have come a long way since the night Bruce and Joyce sat down around the table with their kids to think of a name for this shop, but family is still at the heart of our operation.

Bruce and Joyce Hansen founded Great Plains Auto Body in November 1988 as a family owned and operated auto body repair shop. We first opened our doors in Omaha, Nebraska in a 5000 sq. ft. leased facility at 78th and “F” street. In 1992, 2500 sq. ft. were added. In 1996, we purchased the 17,000 sq. ft. building and 3 and 1/2 acres of land, which serves as our current location.

In 2000, we underwent a major addition to the repair facilities (adding 12,000 sq. ft.) and an extensive remodel to the administrative offices. Along the way, we have found excellent employees who believe in the service we want to provide.

In 2007 we opened a second location in the Lake Manawa area of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The growth did not stop there! In 2012 we opened our third location on Emmet Street in Omaha.

All of our growth and three locations has only helped us to serve you better. Our family and locally owned roots have kept us grounded.
